Can you take AI creative in-house after working with an agency?

Yes, if you leave with the recipe as well as the files: the reference photos, the approved character sheets, the written brand rules, and the prompt, model and reference pictures behind every photo you kept. With that record, one person in-house can keep making matching images in a tool, and the agency can move to the work your team can't cover yet.

100 Creatives sells one of the options below, a custom workflow build. Overs, the ready-made tool we recommend, is our sister product. Abhi Chawla, who founded 100 Creatives, makes it, and both are brands of 2587689 Alberta Ltd.

TL;DR

Pick 100 Creatives' Workflows & Engines if your in-house team wants its own brand-trained AI production pipeline, built for your brand and handed over.

  • From $4,000 per build, quoted in writing with a fixed total before work starts.
  • Brand intake first. Visual language, model preferences, colorways and export specs become the pipeline's rules.
  • Nothing is charged until you approve the quote.
  • Campaign support if you want it, with creative batches back in 48 hours.

Pick something else if you want a ready-made tool instead of a custom build. Overs, our sister product, is $99 a month on Team for 5 seats and 10 brands, keeps a talent library and brand memory, and exports each photo with its prompt, model and references. If your team wants to wire its own canvas, Figma Weave has a free plan with 150 credits a month and paid plans from ~$24 a month.

Ask for the recipe

The final images are only part of what you need. Ask your agency for:

  • The reference set for each product, the same files the agency gave the model.
  • Every approved character sheet, and the terms for reusing each face.
  • The brand rules as written: hex codes, light, lens, grain, styling and the never list.
  • The prompt, model and references behind each kept photo. Overs exports a whole campaign with that record for every photo.
  • The rejects and the reasons. They tell your team what not to try again.
  • A clean version of every photo, before any type.

Put the list in the contract before work starts, along with who owns what. Ownership of AI-generated images depends on the law where you are and on each tool's terms, so ask counsel about your market.

Three ways to run it in-house

1. A ready-made tool

Overs is the one we make our own images in. It keeps these between runs: brand rules, a talent library of approved character sheets, and brand memory built from every approve, change or reject. The Team plan is $99 a month for 5 seats and 10 brands. In a shared workspace the work is shared, each decision records who made it, and each person pays for the AI on their own key.

2. A canvas you wire yourself

Node-based canvases let a team wire inputs, AI steps and outputs by hand. Figma acquired Weavy in October 2025, and Figma Weave has a free plan with 150 credits a month and paid plans from ~$24 a month (Figma Weave pricing, checked September 2026). That is how we built our own campaigns before Overs, with three zones on every canvas: inputs, a locked brain of AI roles with fixed instructions, and an output fan-out of about ten shots. You control every step, and someone has to maintain the canvas.

3. A custom build, handed over

100 Creatives' Workflows & Engines builds a brand-trained production pipeline for your in-house team and hands it over, from $4,000 per build, quoted in writing. It suits teams that want a pipeline of their own without building it from scratch.

Or split the work

Your team runs catalog and social images in-house, and the agency keeps campaigns and video. Both sides work from the same references, rules and cast.

What in-house teams underestimate

  • Review time. In our four hand-built campaigns it took 361 renders to get 45 keepers. At about 8 tries per keeper, 30 photos a month means looking at about 240 renders.
  • Model changes. The models move under you. OpenAI released GPT Image 2.5 on September 8, 2026 (OpenAI API changelog), and Google has scheduled the original Nano Banana model, Gemini 2.5 Flash Image, to shut down on October 2, 2026 (Gemini API pricing). A prompt that worked on one model may need rewriting for the next.
  • Spend. Model fees are small per photo, $0.27 to $1.69 per keeper at our average, but they add up on a card. With a bring-your-own-key tool, each person's key is their own bill.
  • Consistency across people. Two people prompting from memory will describe the same light differently. Written rules and a shared cast keep them on one look.

Test the handover with three photos

Before the agency moves on, pick three photos you approved and have your team remake them from the recipe alone, in the tool you'll use. If all three come back matching the originals within a few tries each, the handover works. If they don't, look for the missing piece (a reference, a rule or the character sheet) while the agency is still there to help find it.

Run it in Overs

Overs was built on our own agency process, and it is what our team makes its images in today. You connect your own OpenRouter key, and the key stays on the device where you typed it instead of in your Overs account. You see the shot plan and an estimated cost before anything renders, and nothing is charged until you say yes. At our average of 8 tries per keeper, a usable photo costs $0.27 to $1.69 in AI fees.

A 30-photo set comes to about $36 to $118 on Overs, including the $29 Pro plan and about $0.20 of planning per run, against $2,026 at soona's published studio prices, per Overs' guide to what a product photo shoot costs.

Overs is our sister product, made by 100 Creatives' founder. Try Overs free at www.overs.studio. The free plan makes 40 photos a month, and Overs adds no markup to the AI.

Which should you buy?

A marketer or two and a steady flow of images

Use Overs, our sister product. Team is $99 a month for 5 seats and 10 brands, and Pro is $29 a month for one seat.

A designer who wants to wire every step

Use Figma Weave. It has a free plan with 150 credits a month and paid plans from ~$24 a month.

A team that wants its own pipeline, built for it

Hire 100 Creatives for a Workflows & Engines build, from $4,000 per build, quoted in writing with a fixed total.

Campaigns and video your team can't cover yet

Keep an agency for those while the team runs the catalog. Agency or AI tool sets out where to draw the line.

Frequently asked
questions

Can we take AI creative in-house after an agency?

Yes, if you get the recipe along with the files: the reference photos, the approved character sheets, the written brand rules, and the prompt, model and references behind each kept photo. Test it by having your team remake three approved photos from the recipe alone before the agency moves on.

What should an agency hand over with AI creative?

The reference set for each product, every approved character sheet with the terms for reusing each face, the brand rules as written, the prompt, model and references behind each kept photo, the rejects with their reasons, and a clean version of every photo before type. Put the list, and who owns what, in the contract before work starts.

Who owns AI-generated images made by an agency?

It depends on your contract, the law where you are and the terms of the tools used. Put ownership of the delivered images, the prompts and the character sheets in writing before work starts, and ask counsel about your market. Check too whether each approved face can be reused, and where.

What tools do in-house teams use for AI product photos?

Three kinds. Ready-made tools such as Overs run the steps for you and keep brand rules, a talent library and brand memory. Node-based canvases such as Figma Weave let the team wire each step by hand. Custom pipelines, such as 100 Creatives' Workflows & Engines from $4,000 per build, are built for one team and handed over.

What does it cost to run AI product photos in-house?

A tool plan, model fees and review time. Overs Team is $99 a month for 5 seats, and model fees ran about $0.27 to $1.69 per usable photo at our average of 8 renders per keeper. Review time is the line teams forget: about 240 renders to look at for every 30 keepers.

Does 100 Creatives build AI workflows for in-house teams?

Yes. Workflows & Engines are brand-trained production pipelines handed to in-house teams, from $4,000 per build. Each build is quoted in writing with a fixed total, and nothing is charged until the quote is approved. 100 Creatives makes its own images in Overs, the tool its founder built.
