Agency fees · model prices checked September 2026

AI photos cost cents to render. What are you paying an agency for?

You pay an agency for everything around the render: the brand intake, the art direction, the tries you never see, the finished ads in every size, and a fixed total someone answers for. The render is the smallest line, about 3 to 21 cents at Google's and OpenAI's published prices, or $0.27 to $1.69 per usable photo once you count the 8 or so tries it takes to get one.

100 Creatives is the agency in this question, so weigh our answer with that in mind. We make our images in Overs, an AI tool our founder built, and both are brands of 2587689 Alberta Ltd. Anyone can use the same tool, free for 40 photos a month plus a few cents a photo in AI fees.

TL;DR

Pay 100 Creatives if you want finished static and video ads as well as photos, and nobody on your team has time to direct and review the renders.

  • A fixed total before work starts. Ad creative is quoted from $4,000, and nothing is charged until you approve the quote in writing.
  • The looking is done for you. In our four hand-built 2026 campaigns, 361 renders produced 45 keepers.
  • Finished ads. Statics for Meta, TikTok and Google, AI video, and the imagery behind them.
  • 48-hour batches, with revisions back within 48 hours.

Pick something else if you only need photos and someone in-house can judge them. Overs, our sister product, is free for 40 photos a month, Pro is $29 a month, and the AI costs $0.27 to $1.69 per usable photo on your own key. If you need finished ads on a budget under $4,000, a freelancer or a self-serve ad tool costs less, and our pricing comparison lists them.

What one render costs in 2026

Published prices per image from Google and OpenAI, checked September 2026, at 1K or 1024 x 1024 unless noted. The last column is our first-hand average of 8 renders per photo kept.
Image modelPrice per renderPer usable photo at 8 renders
Nano Banana 2 Lite (Google)$0.0336$0.27
Nano Banana 2 (Google)$0.067$0.54
Nano Banana Pro (Google), 1K or 2K$0.134$1.07
GPT Image 2 (OpenAI), high quality$0.211$1.69

Sources: Google's Gemini API pricing and OpenAI's image generation guide. If you buy model credits through OpenRouter, it passes those prices through without markup and charges 5.5% ($0.80 minimum) when you pay by card.

Here is a 30-photo set as a worked example, not a quote. At 8 renders a keeper that is 240 renders: about $16 on Nano Banana 2, or about $51 on GPT Image 2 at high quality. Even a slow job, 14 renders a keeper on GPT Image 2, stays under $89 in model fees.

The renders you never see

A price list counts renders, and most renders get thrown away. In four campaigns we built by hand in 2026, 361 renders produced 45 photos we kept:

  • Gummy supplement ads: 38 renders, 12 kept, 3.2 per keeper.
  • Men's trousers on a model: 40 renders, 11 kept, 3.6 per keeper.
  • Brownie food ads with motion: 120 renders, 10 kept, 12.0 per keeper.
  • Surf apparel on one model across studio, cliff and ocean scenes: 163 renders, 12 kept, 13.6 per keeper.

Somebody compared all 361 against the product and the brand and threw away 316. On the surf job, the character sheet alone took 20 attempts before one was right. That looking is the first thing an agency fee pays for. The full story is in our case study of how that process became Overs.

What the rest of the quote pays for

An agency quote for AI creative covers the work around the render. At 100 Creatives that means:

  • Brand intake before production: visual language, model preferences, colorways and export specs.
  • Art direction. Turning your brief into shots, light, lens and palette that an image model follows.
  • Casting. An approved character sheet, so the same person carries through the set.
  • Selection and fixes. The tries above, plus remakes when a label, a hand or a seam drifts.
  • The ads. Headlines, layouts and each placement size for Meta, TikTok and Google.
  • Video. AI video ads, made with AI video tools and art-directed by our team.
  • Revisions, back within 48 hours.
  • A fixed total. A written quote before work starts, valid for 30 days and invoiced in advance.

Ad creative is quoted in ranges of $4,000 to $10,000, $10,000 to $25,000, $25,000 to $50,000 and $50,000+. Product photography starts at $5,000 per project, and 100-SKU apparel programmes start at $10,000. Each quote is one total for the agreed scope.

What it costs to run it yourself

Running AI photos in-house has three cost lines:

  1. A tool plan. Overs is free for 40 photos a month, $29 a month on Pro and $99 a month on Team, with unlimited photos on both paid plans (Overs pricing page, checked September 2026).
  2. Model fees. $0.27 to $1.69 per usable photo at 8 tries a keeper, paid to OpenRouter on your own key. Overs adds no markup.
  3. Your time. At 8 tries a keeper, 30 keepers means looking at about 240 renders, each one next to the real product.

Put together, a 30-photo set runs about $36 to $118 on Overs. That assumes the Pro plan, 3 to 14 tries per photo on Nano Banana 2 or GPT Image 2 at high quality, and about $0.20 of planning for each of three runs. The same set costs $2,026 at soona's published studio prices and $13,790 with a hired crew for one day, per Overs' guide to what a product photo shoot costs.

Overs does part of the looking for you. It plans the shots, picks the references for each photo and shows the cost before anything renders. On Pro and Team, a reviewer checks each photo against the references before you see it and retries on its own up to a limit you set. The final yes is still yours.

We make our own images in Overs, so it is the same tool behind our work. Overs is our sister product, made by 100 Creatives' founder. Try Overs free at www.overs.studio.

When the agency fee is worth it

Worth it when you need finished ads and video every month, nobody in-house can direct and review renders, a launch date is fixed, or you run many placements that each need their own size and layout.

Not worth it when you need a handful of store-page photos a month, you have a designer who can learn a tool, or your whole budget is under $4,000. In those cases, run the photos yourself and put the difference into media.

Which should you buy?

A few store-page photos a month

Run them yourself in Overs, our sister product. It is free for 40 photos a month, and a usable photo costs about $0.27 to $1.69 in AI fees.

Frequently asked
questions

How much does an AI product photo cost to make?

At Google's and OpenAI's published prices in September 2026, one render costs about 3 to 21 cents, depending on the model and quality. A usable photo costs more because most renders get thrown away. In four campaigns 100 Creatives built by hand in 2026, it took about 8 renders per keeper, which puts a usable photo at roughly $0.27 to $1.69 in model fees.

Why do agencies charge thousands for AI photos?

Because the render is a small part of the job. The quote covers the brand intake, art direction, casting, picking keepers out of many renders, fixing what drifted, building finished ads in every placement size, video and revisions. 100 Creatives quotes ad creative from $4,000 as a fixed total, and nothing is charged until the quote is approved in writing.

Is it cheaper to make AI product photos in-house?

In cash, yes. A 30-photo set costs about $36 to $118 on Overs, including the $29 Pro plan, against $2,026 at soona's published studio prices. The cost that doesn't show on a price page is review time, about 240 renders to pick 30 keepers at 8 tries each. If nobody on your team has that time, an agency is how the photos get finished.

Does 100 Creatives charge per image?

No. 100 Creatives quotes each engagement as one fixed total for the agreed scope. Ad creative is quoted in ranges from $4,000 to $50,000+, product photography starts at $5,000 per project, and 100-SKU apparel programmes start at $10,000. Quotes are in USD, valid for 30 days and invoiced in advance.

What AI tool does 100 Creatives use for images?

Overs. 100 Creatives makes its campaign and product images in Overs today. Overs is made by the agency's founder, Abhi Chawla, and anyone can use it. The free plan covers 40 photos a month, and model fees are paid to OpenRouter on your own key, with no markup from Overs.

What don't AI render prices include?

They leave out the renders you throw away, the time to review them, typography and layout, sizing for each placement, and any video. They also leave out card fees on model credits. OpenRouter, for example, passes provider prices through without markup but charges 5.5%, with a $0.80 minimum, when you buy credits by card.
